Ed Davis is a big man that can score, rebound and block shots
Welcome to Toronto, Ed Davis. Your job is to make us forget about Chris Bosh, or at least make the reality of life without him a little easier to deal with. Ah, who am I kidding? Life sucked for Raptors fans even with Bosh, so don’t even start to feel any pressure. Bryan Colangelo scooped Davis, a 21-year-old power forward out of North Carolina, with the 13th pick in last night’s NBA Draft.
To be honest, I don’t know much about Davis and it would seem Toronto’s brass doesn’t either — he wasn’t even in town to work out this summer, mainly because he was expected to be off the board by the time the Raps’ pick rolled around. If we’re able to get a top 10 talent at 13, that can’t be a bad thing. Davis, the son of former NBA big man Terry, averaged 13.4 points, 9.6 boards and 2.8 blocks as a sophomore last season before breaking his wrist in February and missing the rest of the year. He scored at least 20 four times, including a season-high 22 against Michigan State in December.
Like I said, I don’t know much about the guy, but this pick is looking pretty good. Davis, a 6’10” lefty like Bosh, apparently has some flashy post moves, and those will only develop with age. Let’s just say he sounds like a better prospect than Rafael Araujo.
Kentucky’s John Wall, of course, went first overall to the Wizards, with Ohio State’s Evan Turner heading to the Sixers second, Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech) to the Nets third, Wesley Johnson (Syracuse) to the T-Wolves fourth and DeMarcus Cousins (Kentucky) heading to the Kings to round out the top five.
Maybe the broken wrist made GM’S nervous on taking him?? Will this guy know what a rebound is???? It appears no one else on the team does…ESPECIALLY ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE FLOOR!!!!!!

He did it all in a couple years of college ball, so hopefully it translates well to the pros. If he boards, he’ll be a lot better than what we’re used to in Toronto.
As for Bosh, I couldn’t really care less. Guess we’ll just have to see what LeBron does…
