I like Chicago, mostly because their jerseys are sick

Chicago is in the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1992

If you’re from Canada and reading this, chances are you’re a hockey fan. Actually, regardless of where you’re from, you’re probably still a bigger NHL fan than me. But since this is a sports blog and hockey is a sport, it’s with great anticipation that I announce the matchup for the 2010 Stanley Cup: It’s Jeremy Roenick and the Chicago Blackhawks against the Philadelphia Flyers and their feared Legion of Doom line, headlined by a concussion-free Eric Lindros. Well, at least that’s who was running things last time I followed those two teams.

Alright, I kid. I know a few things about the two teams set to do battle — I know Patrick Kane and his little fists of fury have quickly turned Chicago into one of the league’s top young teams, and having Canadian Olympic hero Jonathan Toews in the mix doesn’t exactly hurt either. The Flyers, meanwhile, come in on a bit of a roll, having won eight of nine since falling behind 3-0 to Boston in the Eastern Conference semis. All in all though, I’d give them about as much of a shot as that Buffalo cab driver had against the mighty Kane fam last summer. I’m saying Chicago in six, unless Marian Hossa finds a way to screw things up.

  1. Roenick will probably be at the games. Both teams are set up with young guns, but Chicago has more of them. Philly has Pronger to anchor the defence, but all the penalties the bone-heads from the flyers will take, will make the power play the determining factor.
Yes, the Blackhawks Jersey is arguably the best in ALL sports!!! Both home and away, hell even the third one is sweet.

  2. I grew up a Roenick fan more the mere reason we shared the same name….had a poster up in my room of him, amazing Blackhawks jersey and all.

  3. I’m somewhat of a hockey fan; but I think I possibly care less than you, Jeremy. I just wanted to share that. I think Chi-Town has this covered. I was quite surprised by their performance in the Conference Finals. I believe they have the momentum going into the Cup Finals.

  4. If Hossa strikes out three times in a row, I will laugh. Two no-name goalies here. Lots of studs on each side….. Richards-Carter equal out Toews-Kane but I’ll take Hossa over Briere and Bfulyigien over Hartnell in this bout. Bring back Ronny Hextall!

  5. I agree, they should have to do this one with Hextall and Eddy Belfour between the pipes…
