Poor little Stephen Jackson
Stephen Jackson isn’t a bad guy. Sure, he was one of the main players in The Malice at the Palace and fired a gun outside a strip club a few years ago, but he’s still a great guy. He’s also not to blame for the mess he’s gotten himself into in Golden State, despite agreeing to a three-year, $28 million contract extension prior to last season.
Jackson, or “Captain Jack” if you’re an idiot, is arguably the biggest bum in the NBA (DeShawn Stevenson makes a legit case). Seriously, it blows my mind that professional sports teams still get mixed up with guys like this, because all they ever do is kill teams. Anyway, in case you haven’t been following, Jackson publicly requested a trade a couple months ago and has been at odds with coach Don Nelson ever since. After practice today, he spoke out:
“People want to pan me out to be the bad guy,” he told the Associated Press. “I just want to win.
“A lot of people think just because you play basketball, you make a lot of money, you just bite your tongue and be the bigger person,” he added. “That’s not me.”
Oh yes, the classic case of a guy wanting to win. Here’s the solution, then — do it. I’m tired of these guys complaining about not being on a winning team. If you’re as good as you think you are, then go and turn your team into a winner. That’s why you make 10 million a year.
Anyway, Jackson crowing about how he’s being made out to be the bad guy is hilarious, because he’s the definition of selfish. Yeah, I’m sure every contender will be lining up to acquire his services.
