Homophobe Larry Johnson
Larry Johnson should be so lucky to have such a man as agent Peter Schafer in his corner. Johnson, who made the news earlier this week for lambasting coach Todd Haley via Twitter and calling two people fags, has since been suspended by the Kansas City Chiefs, who’ll certainly miss his 2.7 yards per carry the next two weeks. Not everyone is so down on L.J., though — Schafer, who doubles as his lawyer, can’t seem to comprehend what his man did wrong. This, accoring to TMZ.com:
“We know the N-word is unacceptable, that’s not disputable — but f*g?,” Schafer said. “I’m learning that there’s a segment of our society that finds it offensive and that it should not be used. I didn’t realize that, but I do now…”
Well, it’s a good thing you’re in the know now, Mr. Schafer, because I don’t think your client can afford anymore PR nightmares with the type of season he’s having (not to mention, the couple of years he’s had).
As mentioned, Johnson’s suspension is two weeks for now, though there’s some talk of him getting cut outright, which makes sense given his production and that the Chiefs plain blow right now.
Larry Johnson is terrible. It’s crazy that he was actually one of, if not the best runningback in the league a few seasons ago. Apparently the reason why they don’t want to cut him is because they don’t want to set a precedent where if a player starts acting up then the team feels like they have to cut him. It makes sense, but in this case if they cut LJ and he goes to another team he’ll probably just end up sucking for them anyways, so it’s not a big deal. Plus, the Cheifs are doing everything right when it comes to rebuilding, even though they are few seasons away from contending, so it wouldn’t hurt to see some if they have any hidden talent at RB.

I don’t think by cutting him they’d have to do it for any other player that acts up. Cutting him would also be a good football decision, because he’s not likely to earn the money he’s due on the remainder of his contract the way he’s playing these days. Not sure how much they paid him up front on his current deal, but I just don’t see what the point is holding onto the guy.
