Turkoglu makes his Raps debut tomorrow night
Some news on an otherwise slow sports day: Hedo Turkoglu has been cleared to make preseason debut tomorrow night against the Celtics, signalling the end of his fall vacation and the beginning of what I’m hoping will be something good in Toronto. Turkoglu’s presence in the lineup means Jay Triano will have his starting five in tact for the first time, meaning we’ll finally be getting a good idea of what we’re in for this season in Raptorland.
Turkoglu has been in camp from day one but hasn’t seen much action due to fatigue from his NBA Finals run with Orlando and having played for Turkey at the European Championships this summer. I don’t necessarily agree with having him sit for two weeks — for example, the Lakers’ Pau Gasol played in the same Finals and championships but didn’t miss any time in Training Camp — but as long Turkoglu’s ready for opening night, I suppose it’s not that big a deal. Now he and Triano have to prove that he is.
The Raptors, by the way, open the regular season on Oct. 28 against The LeBrons.
