Tony Romo is alright, I suppose
I missed an entire slate of NFL games yesterday (give or take a few minutes of the Sunday nighter), so Monday night’s Cowboys-Panthers games was must-see TV for me. By halftime I was already planning my “Tony Romo sucks” rant, only for Dallas to score 21 unanswered second half points en route to a 21-7 win. Romo, by the way, ain’t that bad after all.
Coming off a nightmarish performance against the Giants last week, Romo finished 22-of-33 for 255 yards, doing most of his damage in the second half against a Carolina team that couldn’t make a stop or pick up a first down. Dallas finished with 212 yards on the ground — 94 and 82 from Felix Jones and Tashard Choice, respectively. Jones left early in the third quarter with a knee strain following a 40-yard pickup.
The Cowboys’ D shut down Steve Smith, limiting him to four catches — three of which came on the Panthers’ opening possession. Smith mis-ran an inside route with Carolina down 13-7 late in the fourth, allowing Terrance Newman to pick Jake Delhomme’s pass and take it 27 yards to put it to bed.
