Halladay is back on track
Now that’s the Roy Halladay I remember growing up with. After three straight shaky outings, Doc was back in form last night, pitching a one-hit shutout to beat an overweight and underproductive Joba Chamberlain 6-0. The only Yankee hit came with one out in the sixth, when shortstop Derek Jeter Ramiro Pena doubled into the right field corner. Halladay also pitched a two-hit shutout against Chamberlain and the Yankees at Rogers Centre just before the All-Star Break last year.
The Jays got on the board early against Joba, scoring twice in the first behind back-to-back doubles by Aaron Hill and Adam Lind and a two-out error by Pena on a routine Vernon Wells grounder. Hill drove in two more with a double in the eighth as well, upping his RBI total to 91, one short of Lind’s team lead.
