The Yankees are in town, so there’s no better time to pay tribute to a memorable Bronx Bomber Seinfeld cameo. I never liked Paul O’Neill — the guy used to swing and miss at pitches and still argue they were balls. In other words, he was the Kevin Youkilis of the nineties. Still, his appearance goes down as my favourite Yankee cameo in Seinfeld history (with apologies to Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Buck Showalter and Danny Tartabull).
Anyway, Ricky Romero gets the ball against Chad Gaudin in the opener. Speaking of cameos, Gaudin had one of his own in a Blue Jays uniform in 2005, giving up 31 hits and 19 earned runs in 13 innings (13.15 ERA). Fair enough, considering he was acquired in a deal for Kevin Cash.
