All is good when Baltimore comes to town
Much like everyone else in baseball, Roy Halladay loves facing the Orioles. Doc won his 10th straight decision and improved to 20-4 lifetime against Baltimore this afternoon, going eight innings and giving up two earned runs in the Jays’ 7-3 win.
Toronto also got loads of offense in this one — potent cleanup man Kevin Millar broke a 1-for-15 skid with a 3-for-3 afternoon, including a solo shot to get the Jays on the board in the second. Marco Scutaro and Vernon Wells each hit two-run homers in the third, giving Halladay an early lead he wouldn’t even come close to surrendering. Wells added an RBI single in the seventh to give him eight RBIs on the five-game homestand, two more than Alex Rios’ six. The bash brothers are back! Actually, I’ll put that statement on hold until we find out whether or not Rios is heading to Chicago.
Anyway, the win gave the Jays two of three in the series, following a two-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees on Tuesday and Wednesday. In what may not be a fun affair, Toronto kicks off a three-game series with those same Yankees tomorrow night at The House that Steinbrenner Built.
