Plaxico Burress, likely wearing sweat pants
A professional athlete going to jail? That looks to be the case. About a week after Michael Vick’s sentence expired, it looks like another NFLer is heading to prison: Strip club afficionado and reputedly poor tipper Plaxico Burress has been told he’ll serve time for his gun possession charge from last November either by trial or by plea. The original charge — criminal possession of a weapon — faces up to a three-and-a-half year term, and the DA is reporting a lesser charge (which he’d agree to) could call for two years.
Oh, Plaxico — you silly, stubborn, STUPID MAN! How do you go from being the top receiver on a Super Bowl team to shooting yourself AND having to serve at least two years in jail for it? Oh well, maybe in a few years you can hook up with Vick for a UFL Championship, or at the least party at a strip club on your first day of freedom.
Also relating to the story: Burress’ former teammate (and current Giant) Antonio Pierce isn’t exactly off the hook either. The linebacker, who was with Burress when the incident occured, allegedly brought the gun back to Burress’ home after driving him to the hospital.
