Doc gets the ball
The Roy Halladay lovefest continues tonight at Rogers Centre, as Doc gets the ball against Tampa Bay in the last start before J.P. Ricciardi’s self-imposed July 28 trade deadline. The story took another turn after yesterday afternoon’s game when Ricciardi admitted Halladay came to him earlier this season and said he’d test the free agent waters after 2010 and gave a list of teams he’d like to be traded to. In true Ricciardi fashion, the GM couldn’t remember exactly when the exchange took place and in true Halladay fashion, the starter declined to comment.
Anyway, provided he’s not dealt in the next few hours, Halladay is on the hill tonight against the Rays, who’ve beaten him five times since the beginning of last season. Tampa Bay counters with Blue Jay killer Matt Garza, who’s given up three earned runs in 45 innings against Toronto over the same time span.
