Millar and Bautista, relishing the heat of the pennant race
I try to like B.J. Ryan — I really, really do. I convinced myself he was back in form after three consecutive scoreless outings in which he blew batters away with his 84 mph fastball, but it looks like I was way off. The beautiful thing, however, is that the Jays have survived all three of B.J.’s adventurous outings thus far (Detroit, Cleveland and now Texas) and I make an extra $12.50 for every hour the games are extended courtesy of him. Thanks!
Anyway, to the thing that matters the most — The Jays bounced back from Ryan’s three-run ninth and won 8-7 in 11 innings, their third walk-off win in nine home games this season. Kevin Millar did the honours this time around, driving one up the gap to score the potent offensive weapon known as Vernon Wells and sending the 718 fans on hand into a frenzy. 11-5 and two games up on those teams from New York and Boston that refuse to lose!
