Cito Gaston, calling somebody else out, apparently...
Just when I thought Cito Gaston couldn’t get any dumber, he goes and does something like this…and totally redeems himself! When asked about allegations made by Jeff Pearlman in a new book about Roger Clemens today, Cito pulled no punches:
“He’s a complete asshole,” Gaston said. “And I’ll say that loud, right in his face.”
Gaston also mentioned a time in 1997 (Clemens’ first year as a Jay and Cito’s last as manager) when The Rocket questioned his authority behind his back.
“He wouldn’t confront me,” he said, adding that he wished he’d confronted Clemens himself. “Someone would’ve had an ass whuppin’ that day.”
And once again, you’re all good in my books, Cito Gaston. Well, at least until Shawn Camp is your only option left in an extra inning game and he ends up blowing it.
