KG back on the shelf

KG might need to retract his "Anything is Possible!" statement if the Celtics run into Superman in the second round

KG might need to retract his "Anything is Possible!" statement if the Celtics run into Superman in the second round

File this one under Bad Things That Happen To Bad People: Kevin Garnett is going to miss at least the next four games as the Celtics battle for positioning in the Eastern Conference. This comes after missing 15 of the last 19 because of a knee injury suffered in Utah on February 19.

Alright, KG isn’t that bad of a guy. I actually don’t mind the Celtics half as much as I did last season due to my developing crush on Rajon Rondo. I just cringe thinking about the damage Garnett has inflicted on the Raptors the past two years, and see this injury as some sort of sweet justice for his little “Bring It On” act back in November against mine and Ahmad Rashad’s main man, Jose Calderon.

This, of course, will have an impact on the Eastern Conference standings, with Boston and Orlando neck-and-neck for the number two seed. Doc Rivers said last week that home court advantage isn’t his biggest concern, which blows my mind because without it the Celtics wouldn’t have even made it out of the first round last year and they didn’t win a game on the road until the Eastern Conference Finals, and that was with a healthy KG. We’ll see how they feel if they end up in Dwight Howard’s house come the second round — It’s looking more and more like that’s gonna be the case.
