Jose Tabata
The Pittsburgh Pirates are in the news today, and it’s not because they’re in line for their first winning season since 1939 (which they aren’t, by the way). It seems the wife of Pirates’ prospect Jose Tabata is in a bit of trouble, accused of kidnapping a two-month-old baby from a health clinic in Florida. Apparently Amalia Pereira, Tabata’s wife, posed as an immigration official and told the parents of the child that they were about to be deported and that she could help them by taking the baby.
Interesting story, hey? Well it gets better: Turns out Tabata, who the Pirates acquired from the Yankees last summer, is 20, while his wife is a ripe 43. Looks like this isn’t the first time she’s robbed the cradle. Okay, that was too easy.
