One of these two is about to strain a hamstring
…actually, it technically started last July when Dustin McGowan’s arm fell off, and then got worse when Shaun Marcum fell victim to the same fate in September. But the Jays got their first bad news of the spring today after Vernon Wells pulled a hamstring in a routine baserunning drill.
Wells had an MRI and is expected to be out four weeks, and “maybe a little more” according to J.P. Ricciardi, who was on The Fan this afternoon. Is that a hint that Ricciardi knows “maybe a little more” about the injury than the rest of us, as he did with B.J. Ryan a couple years ago? Probably not, but it’s still troubling to lose Wells this early, especially following a season in which he played just 108 games coming off shoulder surgery. Wells missed a month last year with an injury to the same hamstring.
